Luka Modric confirms next club after Milan

Luka Modric has reportedly secured his next professional move, charting a return to the Spanish capital in a non-playing capacity once his current Serie A contract concludes.

The 40-year-old midfield engine signed an agreement with the Rossoneri that runs until June 2026, with an optional further year. Despite his age, Modric has continued to demonstrate his enduring verve in seven appearances for Milan this season. However, reports from Spain suggest his final fixture on the pitch is already in sight.

According to Defensa Central, the Ballon d’Or winner is expected to return to Madrid when he decides to leave Italy, though not to grace the Bernabéu turf as a player. Instead, the move would see him take on a coaching or ambassadorial role with Los Blancos.

The veteran international, currently focused on leading Croatia to the 2026 World Cup, may take a one-year sabbatical upon drawing the curtain on his illustrious playing innings.

Upon leaving the Spanish giants, the scribe penned an emotional farewell, sentiments that underscore the inevitable reunion:

“An unforgettable, glorious and victorious period has come to an end. What I’ve experienced makes me even happier. Remembering everything I’ve achieved here is something to be very happy about, even though it’s coming to an end. At Real Madrid, I have grown as a player and as a person. Real Madrid has given me everything in football, and for that I will be grateful for the rest of my life. I will always be a Madridista.”

Talks between the Croatian and his former employers are set to continue over the coming months as he plots his path away from the professional arena.
