Postecoglou fired after just 39 days at Nottingham Forest

Ange Postecoglou has been sacked by Nottingham Forest after just 39 days, setting a new record for the shortest managerial stint in Premier League history.

Nottingham Forest have dismissed Ange Postecoglou after just 39 days in charge, marking the shortest managerial tenure in Premier League history.

The decision came less than 30 minutes after Forest’s 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday. “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement. “The Club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecoglou was appointed in September by owner Evangelos Marinakis, but a string of poor results quickly intensified pressure on the Australian coach. His sacking breaks the record previously held by Les Reed, who lasted 40 days as Charlton Athletic boss in 2006.

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca reacted to the news, saying, “I am very sorry,” after hearing of Postecoglou’s dismissal.
