Diego Simeone questioned LaLiga officials after a controversial VAR decision marred Atletico Madrid’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Osasuna on Saturday.
The controversy centered on a goal by Alex Baena in the ninth minute that was disallowed for offside after a contentious VAR review.
Simeone’s comments on the disallowed goal, expressing confusion and frustration, stating: “What do you say? There are things that are not understood. I think the same as you, there are three people who are watching it and decided the opposite of what we all think.”
The report also noted that Simeone was not the only high-profile LaLiga coach to complain about officiating that day, linking his comments to the situation with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who was sent off during their win over Girona and will miss the upcoming El Clásico.
Atlético Madrid ultimately won the game thanks to a 69th-minute goal from substitute Thiago Almada and moved up to fourth place in the league table.
