Arne Slot Faces History as Liverpool Teeter on 72-Year Record

Liverpool FC manager Arne Slot is one game away from equalling a 72-year-old unwanted club record as his side grapples with an “AWFUL run of form.” The Premier League champions have been defeated in each of their last four outings, three in the top flight and one in the Champions League, marking their worst losing streak in over a decade.

The Reds’ recent league defeats to Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Crystal Palace, all ending 2-1, have fueled major concerns over the club’s trajectory.

The pressure now mounts ahead of Wednesday’s pivotal Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt, where Slot will “need to find the right formula.”

Should Slot’s team fail to secure a result, they will match a dismal record not seen since the 1953/54 relegation season. A report on BBC Sport highlighted the severity:

“If they lose for the fifth time in a row to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday, it would be the first time Liverpool have suffered this fate since September 1953.”

Following a summer spending spree of £450m, the current crisis has been exacerbated by the failure of new signings like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak to ‘click.’ Slot is under immediate pressure to prevent a historically bad run from defining his early tenure.
