Julian Alvarez: Atletico Madrid don’t fear Arsenal, anyone

Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez has stated his belief that the club is now in peak condition to take on any team in the Champions League, ahead of their crucial match against Arsenal.

Speaking at a press conference, the former Manchester City player acknowledged their tricky start to the season, but highlighted the team’s recent resurgence, which includes four wins in their last five games, notably a 5-2 thrashing of rivals Real Madrid.

Alvarez, who has netted seven times in his last seven Champions League appearances, stressed the squad’s current readiness.

“We didn’t start in the best way but now the team is doing very well. We suffered some injuries at the beginning but I think now we’re in great shape to compete with anyone,” Alvarez told reporters.

Manager Diego Simeone echoed the need for intensity: “We come with the hope of putting on a great performance and securing a victory, which we need, away from home and in the Champions League, and of approaching tomorrow’s match with the intensity it deserves.”

Historically, Atletico has a poor record against English sides, winning only one of their last nine encounters, but a win at the Emirates would level them on points with group leaders Arsenal.
