Arne Slot maintained a remarkably calm and relaxed demeanour in the Liverpool dressing room following their disappointing defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, marking the club’s worst run of four successive losses since 2014.
Despite presiding over three consecutive Premier League defeats, Slot refused to “rant and rave” and is determined to stick by the principles that brought him success at Feyenoord.
The manager, who has been studying match clips abroad during the international break, is fully aware of the pressure stemming from a large summer spending spree.
Slot acknowledged that dealing with challenges is central to the job, particularly as Jürgen Klopp’s successor.
He stated: “I think as a manager you face constantly challenges… Then you go to be the successor of Jürgen Klopp and people say this is the biggest challenge you ever faced.”
Now facing the prospect of ending the losing run, Slot added: “Now we have lost four times in a row and that’s also a challenge. So, the life of a football manager is an ongoing challenge. If you win games you want to keep winning, if you lose games you want to start winning again.”
