Liverpool FC confirmed their 21-man travelling squad for the UEFA Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, with midfielder Ryan Gravenberch a notable omission due to an ankle injury.
The 23-year-old Dutchman was forced off during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United and subsequently missed open training, confirming concerns over his fitness. Manager Arne Slot addressed the setback, stating:
“I took him off because he twisted his ankle. Is he an injury concern? That’s what we have to wait and see tomorrow, but we have to play [on Wednesday] again.”
In brighter news for the Reds, the squad flying to Germany includes Wataru Endo, who has recovered from a hamstring problem, and Alexis Mac Allister, despite the Argentine sustaining a head wound against United.
The inclusion of Endo and Mac Allister provides Slot with options to deputise for Gravenberch as Liverpool seek to halt a run of four consecutive defeats across all competitions.
Alisson Becker remains out with a hamstring injury. The team will be keen to secure a vital win to improve their position in the Champions League league phase.
