Rashford scores twice for Barca to prove Amorim wrong

Marcus Rashford scored twice in Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Olympiakos, proving Ruben Amorim wrong after being frozen out at Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford continued his strong form for Barcelona by scoring twice in a 6-1 Champions League win over Olympiakos on Tuesday night. The Manchester United loanee, who was sidelined by Ruben Amorim before sealing a summer move to Spain, has now registered five goals and five assists in 12 appearances.

With Robert Lewandowski injured, Hansi Flick played Rashford as a central striker, and the 27-year-old delivered impressively. His brace in the 74th and 79th minutes came after he won the penalty that Lamine Yamal converted to make it 3-1. Rashford has now scored or assisted in eight of his last nine matches, showing the consistency he lacked at Old Trafford.

“Marcus can be a No.9 or a No.11,” Flick said. “He gives us a lot of positives and can play as a centre forward.” Rashford’s form could earn him a permanent deal at Barca — and a recall to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
