Young Brazilian footballer dies in freak bike crash after hitting cow

According to Daily Mail reporting, 20-year-old Brazilian footballer Antony Ylano died in a freak motorbike accident after colliding with a cow while returning home from his father’s birthday party.

The tragic incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Monday along the BR-343 highway in Altos, Piaui state. CCTV footage shared by local outlets showed the moment Ylano’s motorbike struck the animal, sending him crashing onto the tarmac. Police said he died at the scene.

Ylano, a striker for Piaui’s Under-20 team, was regarded as one of the region’s most promising talents. He had previously played for Altos and Fluminense-PI, winning the Piaui State Championship in both 2024 and 2025.

In a statement, Piaui Esporte Clube said: “Piaui Esporte Clube is experiencing a moment of deep pain with the loss of striker Antony Ylano, 20 years old, victim of an accident in the early hours, in the city of Altos.”

Altos, one of his former clubs, also expressed sorrow: “It is with deep regret that Associacao Atletica de Altos received the news of the death of Antony Ylano.”

Police confirmed the crash remains under investigation. Reports said Ylano’s wake was held Monday evening in his hometown of Serra do Cedro, Altos.
