Chelsea issued Sunderland game travel warning to fans

Supporters heading to Stamford Bridge for the Sunderland game should be aware of significant London Underground and Overground disruptions, including the closure of Fulham Broadway Station and affected District and Mildmay Lines, impacting travel plans.

Chelsea Football Club has issued a major travel warning to supporters planning to attend the Premier League fixture against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 25 October.

Planned engineering works on the London Underground network will cause significant disruption, notably the closure of the primary servicing station.

The warning states that the District Line will be closed west of Embankment Station, meaning Fulham Broadway Station is closed all day with no District Line services running to any nearby stations on that branch of the network. The Circle Line and London Overground Mildmay Line are also affected.

Fans are strongly encouraged to use alternative stations like Hammersmith or South Kensington to complete their journey.

In anticipation of heavy foot traffic after the match, the club relayed a warning from Transport for London (TfL) regarding one alternative route:

TfL “warn entry to that station may take up to 60 minutes after the match due to crowding,” referring to Earl’s Court Station on the Piccadilly Line. Supporters are advised to check their journey details in advance using TfL’s official journey planner.
