Tottenham climbed to third in the Premier League after a commanding 3-0 win over Everton, with Thomas Frank’s side showcasing set-piece brilliance and defensive resilience.
Tottenham climbed to third in the Premier League table after dismantling Everton 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, thanks to an aerial masterclass that silenced growing doubts around manager Thomas Frank.
Under pressure following one win in five, Frank’s men responded emphatically as Micky van de Ven scored two first-half headers, both from precision Pedro Porro deliveries, before Pape Matar Sarr sealed the result late on. “Not bad from Micky, huh?” Frank joked post-match. “He has really grown up and taken some big steps in terms of his leadership.”
Everton, who entered unbeaten at home, struggled to withstand Tottenham’s set-piece dominance. “We have been very good defending set pieces but their deliveries were very good,” said David Moyes. “It was not for the lack of preparation… we were undone.”
Frank praised his team’s spirit, noting that “3-0 is a fabulous result” against a tough opponent. The victory — Tottenham’s fifth from set plays this season — eased the “preposterous noise” surrounding Frank’s early tenure while highlighting his tactical evolution from Ange Postecoglou’s era.
