Champions League clubs eye Marc Guehi

Marc Guehi is reportedly attracting significant attention from several top clubs competing in the Champions League, sparking speculation about a potential transfer.

The race to sign Crystal Palace captain and England international Marc Guéhi has intensified, with major Champions League contenders actively “exploring the market” for the highly-sought-after defender, according to FotMob reporting.

Guéhi, whose contract is set to expire next summer, is not expected to sign an extension at Selhurst Park, making him one of the most attractive free-agent prospects in Europe.

Following reports that Bayern Munich had held discussions with the 25-year-old centre-back’s representatives, Bayern director of sports Max Eberl hinted strongly at the club’s interest during a recent interview with DAZN.

When questioned about the reported meeting with the defender’s agent, Eberl confirmed the German champions’ proactive stance in the transfer market, stating that the need for defensive reinforcements is clear.

He said: “It’s absolutely clear that we as Bayern Munich are exploring the market.” He added: “We would be foolish not to. That’s the reason. I’ve not confirmed anything, but we are active in the market.”

Bayern are now considered frontrunners, stepping ahead of other long-term admirers, including Liverpool and Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, who are all monitoring the situation closely.

Liverpool notably saw a Deadline Day move for Guéhi break down last summer after Palace opted to retain their captain after failing to secure a suitable replacement.

With Guéhi eligible to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs from the start of the January transfer window, Crystal Palace faces the prospect of losing one of their most valuable assets on a free transfer.

The impending transfer battle highlights the rising value and reputation of the former Chelsea academy product across Europe’s elite clubs.
