Celtic fans staged a major protest against the club’s hierarchy following Brendan Rodgers’ sudden resignation.
Celtic fans staged another protest against the club’s board outside Parkhead ahead of Wednesday’s Premiership clash with Falkirk, following Brendan Rodgers’ shock resignation earlier in the week.
The demonstration, organised by the Celtic Fans Collective, reflected growing frustration over the club’s summer transfer dealings and Champions League failure. Hundreds of supporters gathered, chanting against majority shareholder Dermot Desmond, chief executive Michael Nicholson, and chairman Peter Lawwell, while flares lit up the night sky.
The protest coincided with the first game under interim boss Martin O’Neill and assistant Shaun Maloney, both former Celtic figures. Rodgers’ exit on Monday, alongside assistant John Kennedy, was followed by a blistering statement from Desmond, who blamed recent issues on “one individual’s desire for self-preservation at the expense of others.”
He further accused Rodgers of “divisive, misleading, and self-serving” conduct that “contributed to a toxic atmosphere” and “fuelled hostility” toward the club’s leadership.
