Chelsea Chiefs secretly plan to replace Maresca with rising tactical genius

Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Sunderland has intensified pressure on manager Enzo Maresca, with club officials reportedly preparing to replace him with Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola.

Chelsea’s turbulent season under Enzo Maresca worsened on Saturday as the Blues suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Sunderland, courtesy of a stoppage-time winner at Stamford Bridge.

The result, Chelsea’s third loss in five Premier League games, has heightened pressure on Maresca and fuelled speculation of unrest within the club’s hierarchy. Sources close to the club said several senior officials remain unconvinced by the Italian’s tactics and long-term vision.

According to a reputable transfer insider, Chelsea’s leadership has begun laying the groundwork for a possible managerial change, identifying Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola as their preferred successor. Iraola, who has impressed with the Cherries’ high-intensity style, has guided his side to second place in the Premier League — just four points behind leaders Arsenal.

The 43-year-old Spaniard is reportedly admired by Chelsea’s board for his tactical intelligence and leadership qualities.

However, Chelsea faces stiff competition, with Manchester United and Juventus also monitoring Iraola’s situation.

While United’s Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reaffirmed support for Ruben Amorim, Chelsea’s owner Todd Boehly’s record of rapid managerial changes has raised doubts about Maresca’s job security, leaving his future at Stamford Bridge increasingly uncertain.
