Super Bowl champion punter Dustin Colquitt has offered to personally help Bayern Munich star Harry Kane achieve his stated ambition of becoming an NFL kicker, stating the English striker “would do fantastic” at the sport.
Super Bowl champion Dustin Colquitt has publicly offered to help Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane achieve his dream of becoming an NFL kicker. The offer comes despite Kane’s prolific form in Germany, where he recently became the fastest player to score 100 goals in Europe’s top five leagues.
The England captain has frequently expressed his ambition to try American football, stating last year, “I love it, so I would love to give it a go.” Colquitt, a former Kansas City Chiefs punter who won Super Bowl LIV, believes the transition is entirely possible.
“Absolutely, if he focused on it. He would do fantastic,” Colquitt told BBC Sport, citing Kane’s finishing skills. Emphasizing his willingness to assist, the former punter added, “So when he’s ready, I’m ready,” highlighting the crucial role of a holder for a kicker’s success.
Kane has previously drawn parallels between kicking under pressure and taking penalties, suggesting his experience could give him an advantage. Several former footballers have successfully transitioned to the NFL, bolstering the feasibility of Kane’s ambition. He remains under contract with Bayern Munich until 2027.
