Woman charged after Premier League star loses leg

A woman faces charges of dangerous and drink driving after former Bournemouth striker Jordan Chiedozie lost his leg in a motorway crash while changing a tyre.

A woman has been formally charged in connection with the devastating motorway crash in February that led to former AFC Bournemouth footballer Jordan Chiedozie losing his right leg, according to reports from GiveMeSport.

Anna Malgorzata Bogusiewicz, 45, of Wraysbury, Berkshire, has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and a separate charge of drink driving. She is due to appear at Southampton Crown Court on December 1st.

The incident occurred on the M27 eastbound carriageway near Ower while Chiedozie, 31, was on the hard shoulder investigating a flat tyre on his journey home from a Southern League game for Bashley FC.

The striker, who is the son of former Tottenham Hotspur winger John Chiedozie, was placed in an induced coma after the collision and subsequently required a leg amputation, alongside suffering open fractures to his left leg and a cracked pelvis.

In the wake of the life-changing injuries, Chiedozie’s teammates launched a GoFundMe campaign which quickly raised more than £34,000 for his recovery. Commenting on the community response, Chiedozie said: “It’s not something I expected, but it’s really good to see.”

Despite the trauma, Chiedozie has kept supporters updated on his recovery, including being fitted with a prosthetic leg in July. Speaking about his ongoing journey, he said:

“It takes time, but I’m getting there in terms of recovery – I’m getting better. I’ve still got a long journey, learning a whole new lifestyle with a prosthetic leg.”
