Bayern Munich star Harry Kane’s sustainable sportswear brand, Reflo, has announced a significant environmental pledge ahead of this Friday’s FA Cup first-round tie between its two partner clubs, Luton Town and Forest Green Rovers.
Kane, an investor and ambassador for Reflo, is backing the initiative which will see a minimum of 1,000 trees planted, along with an additional 1,000 trees for every goal scored during regular time in the match at Kenilworth Road.
Dubbed ‘The Reflo Derby,’ the fixture sees Luton, managed by Jack Wilshere, face Robbie Savage’s Forest Green. Both clubs will wear Reflo kits made from recycled materials, celebrating a shared commitment to sustainability.
Forest Green, notably, is marking ten years as a fully vegan club and is the only team globally to wear a Vegan Society-certified kit, produced by Reflo. Luton is also pursuing environmental goals, including aiming for a highly conscious new stadium.
Speaking on the initiative, Dale Vince, Forest Green’s CEO, stated:
“As soon as we were drawn against Luton, we knew that this would be an extra special FA Cup game between the only two teams using Reflo playing kit. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at FGR… planting thousands of trees as part of this game is something we are proud to be part of!”
Rory MacFadyen, Reflo’s co-founder, emphasised the broader impact:
“This match is more than football – it’s a celebration of progress… We’re proud to mark it by planting 1,000 trees for every goal scored, creating a lasting impact that goes beyond the pitch. Football has a unique power to inspire change, and this is proof that sustainability and sport can thrive together.”
