Monaco manager Sebastien Pocognoli has confirmed that Paul Pogba’s long-awaited debut for the club has been delayed again due to an ankle injury.
The French midfielder joined Monaco on a two-year deal this summer after leaving Juventus in November, following a mutual contract termination and an 18-month doping suspension. Pogba had been expected to return this weekend against Paris FC after completing a fitness programme and recovering from a minor injury.
“It is possible that he will be in the squad, yes,” Pocognoli said earlier in the week. “Paul still has a training session on Thursday, and if he is feeling good, we could see him again.”
However, the midfielder suffered a setback during that session. “We are awaiting confirmation of the severity of the injury,” the Monaco boss said. “The idea is that he can be available after the international break; that is the plan that we are following. We are all disappointed.”
