NOTTINGHAM — Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon as their Premier League winning run came to an end, despite an influential performance from Casemiro.
Ruben Amorim named an unchanged lineup for the first time in the league, but his side failed to hold onto their early advantage at the City Ground. Casemiro opened the scoring in the first half when he headed in from a Bruno Fernandes corner after Benjamin Sesko and Dan Ndoye had gone close.
Forest struck back after the interval, first through Morgan Gibbs-White, who converted Ryan Yates’ pinpoint cross, before Nicolo Savona turned home from close range following defensive confusion. Fernandes nearly equalised when his low strike cannoned off the post, but United were rewarded late on when Amad Diallo volleyed home a brilliant equaliser from the edge of the area.
Casemiro was praised for his “brilliant” display in midfield, while Diogo Dalot endured a “poor” outing. The result extends United’s unbeaten run, though their momentum took a dent ahead of next week’s fixtures.
