Spurs head coach Thomas Frank speaking to Sky Sports: “I think the fans started very well. They did everything they could to back us in the game in a game that we didn’t perform well. Chelsea were better than us on the day. We need to keep working hard to get better. We couldn’t match their energy or intensity. We need to be ready for Tuesday.
On what hurt most from the defeat: “There are a lot of things that hurt me today. We created very little. That’s part of many things. Sometimes we can overanalyse too much. We lacked the freshness today.”
On Xaxi Simons’ form: “I think there are a couple of things. There’s a reason we started him on the bench because he’s played two games in a quick turnaround.”
On making improvements: “I think we just need to keep working very hard on it. Clearly, we are building something that can be very good but today, unfortunately, it was not good. I am frustrated about that but we need to get our heads down and work.”
