Barcelona are keen to sign Marcus Rashford permanently but face major financial challenges due to the forward’s high wages and FFP restrictions.
Barcelona are reportedly intensifying efforts to secure Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal, but the club’s Financial Fair Play restrictions pose a major obstacle.
According to CaughtOffside reporting, Rashford has emerged as one of manager Hansi Flick’s top transfer priorities for 2026, following an impressive start to his spell in Spain.
The 28-year-old Manchester United forward has scored six goals and provided seven assists in 14 appearances for the Catalan side, earning praise for his versatility and professionalism. Sources say Flick has personally endorsed Rashford’s permanent signing to club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco.
However, Rashford’s high wages — the result of a lucrative contract extension with Manchester United in 2023 — exceed Barcelona’s financial limits. The club is reportedly drafting a long-term offer that includes a reduced base salary supplemented by performance-related bonuses and image rights incentives.
Barcelona are prepared to offer around €30 million, slightly below Rashford’s €35 million release clause, while facing competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Arsenal. Despite interest from Premier League rivals, Rashford is said to prefer staying in Spain.
