Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen became the UEFA Champions League’s leading goalscorer after netting a stunning hat-trick for Galatasaray against Ajax. The 26-year-old also broke a long-standing Nigerian goalscoring record in UEFA club competitions.
According to THE CABLE reporting, Victor Osimhen scored a spectacular hat-trick for Galatasaray on Wednesday, securing a dominant 3-0 victory over Ajax in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) encounter at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
The 26-year-old striker’s performance saw him become the UCL’s leading goalscorer for the season. Osimhen opened his account in the 59th minute, heading home a floated cross from Leroy Sane. He then completed his first-ever UCL hat-trick by scoring two penalty kicks “within 10 minutes.”
These goals elevate his total in the competition this season to six, placing him ahead of other top strikers, including “Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe,” who “are all on five goals.” The Super Eagles striker had previously scored one goal against Liverpool and a brace against Bodo/Glimt in earlier UCL matches.
