Aston Villa has successfully agreed to a new contract with 23-year-old midfielder Morgan Rogers, extending his commitment until 2031 with a significantly improved salary, reflecting his vital role under Unai Emery and recent PFA Young Player of the Year award.
According to reporting by The New York Times/The Athletic, Aston Villa is in advanced negotiations to reward forward Morgan Rogers with a hugely improved, long-term contract extension, extending his commitment to the club until 2031.
The move is a powerful statement from Villa intended to fend off interest from seven top European clubs, including Premier League giants like Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea, who have all registered formal interest in the England international.
Sources confirm the new agreement will be financially significant, reportedly doubling Rogers’ current weekly wages from approximately £75,000 into the £150,000 range.
Crucially, the deal is expected to include a staggering release clause valued close to £100 million (over €114 million), effectively issuing a hands-off warning to his suitors.
Manager Unai Emery views the 23-year-old as key to his project, labelling the player simply as “Untouchable.”
Rogers, who initially signed a deal until 2030, is being rewarded after emerging as an engine for the squad since joining from Middlesbrough in early 2024.
Villa aims to finalise the “eye-watering” new terms before the January transfer window opens to ensure no mid-season sale occurs, despite the club’s ongoing Profit and Sustainability Rule (PSR) concerns.
