Sunderland end Arsenal’s clean sheet run with dramatic draw

Brian Brobbey’s stoppage-time goal earned Sunderland a 2-2 draw against Premier League leaders Arsenal, ending the Gunners’ eight-game clean sheet streak.

According to The Independent reporting, Sunderland’s Brian Brobbey struck a dramatic late equaliser to hold Premier League leaders Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

The match ended Arsenal’s run of eight consecutive clean sheets across all competitions. Sunderland took the lead in the 36th minute when former Arsenal academy player Dan Ballard powered home after Nordi Mukiele’s assist. The Gunners responded after halftime, with Bukayo Saka equalising from close range before Leandro Trossard put the visitors ahead in the 74th minute with a stunning strike from outside the area.

However, late drama ensued as Brobbey, coming off the bench, poked home from Ballard’s header in stoppage time to secure a vital point for the hosts. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made key saves throughout, including one to deny Brobbey moments earlier.

Arsenal made three changes from their Champions League win, starting Eberechi Eze, Martin Zubimendi, and Riccardo Calafiori, while Sunderland fielded the same lineup for the third straight game. The result means Arsenal remain top, but their defensive record was finally broken in a thrilling contest.
