Nicolo Cambiaghi replaces injured Moise Kean in Italy squad

Fiorentina’s Moise Kean withdraws from Italy’s squad due to a tibia injury, with Bologna’s Nicolo Cambiaghi called up as his replacement for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Norway.

According to Football-Italia.net reporting, Fiorentina striker Moise Kean has been forced to pull out of the Italy national team squad for the crucial November World Cup qualifying matches due to a recent injury.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed the withdrawal, stating that Kean is suffering from bruising to his tibia, an issue that also saw him miss his club’s recent 2-2 Serie A draw with Genoa. The injury makes him unavailable for the Azzurri’s upcoming fixtures.

Kean had originally been selected by manager Gennaro Gattuso alongside Mateo Retegui and Francesco Pio Esposito to spearhead the attack for the decisive World Cup qualifiers.

A statement confirmed the change, saying: “Kean out, Cambiaghi in. There is a forced change in Gennaro Gattuso’s list of call-ups for the last two World Cup qualifying matches against Moldova (November 13) and Norway (November 16).

The Fiorentina striker, injured with his club, will not be able to respond to the call-up. The coach has decided to call up Bologna forward Nicolo Cambiaghi in his place.”

The call-up represents a significant opportunity for Cambiaghi, who previously made a late debut for the national team in October against Israel.

He joins a revised list of strikers including Riccardo Orsolini, Gianluca Scamacca, and Giacomo Raspadori, as Italy seeks maximum points from the two fixtures to secure their path in the qualification process.
