SuperSport secures AFCON 2026 broadcast rights…

JOHANNESBURG — The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) and broadcaster SuperSport have agreed a deal for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in English and local languages across Sub-Saharan Africa, according to an INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL report. SuperSport, which is owned by MultiChoice and recently acquired by French-based media giant Canal+ in a deal worth $1.9 billion, will rebrand one of its channels specifically for the tournament.

The dedicated channel will feature live match coverage, expert analysis, top African football legends, and multilingual commentary. The terms of the deal between CAF and SuperSport were not disclosed.

CANAL+ Africa CEO, David Mignot, underscored the strategic benefit of the recent acquisition: “Our newly formed merger with the MultiChoice Group has already unlocked opportunities and benefits for our customers. The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is a great demonstration of this ambition -bringing together our expertise to offer unprecedented coverage and bring fans closer to the game.”
