Ange Postecoglou praises Celtic managerial candidate Kjetil Knutsen

Ange Postecoglou has given a glowing endorsement of Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutsen, a leading candidate to take over at the Scottish club following Brendan Rodgers’ departure.

Former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has previously heaped praise on one of the Hoops’ current top managerial candidates, Kjetil Knutsen, according to a report from GiveMeSport.

Knutsen, who is currently the head coach of Norwegian top-flight outfit Bodo/Glimt, has emerged on the Scottish Premier League champions’ radar following Brendan Rodgers’ exit last month.

Knutsen was named Eliteserien Manager of the Year for three consecutive seasons between 2019 and 2021 and is one of the leading candidates alongside Ipswich Town head coach Kieran McKenna to take the reins at Celtic Park.

Postecoglou, who led the Scottish giants to consecutive top-flight titles between 2021 and 2023, faced Knutsen while managing Tottenham in the Europa League semi-finals last season, winning 3-1 at home and 2-0 in Norway.

However, the Australian suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat on aggregate against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League campaign during the 2021/22 season while at Celtic.

Before drawing swords again in April, Postecoglou said of Knutsen: “A good guy. Obviously, I met him a few years back, and he has done really well with them [Bodo/Glimt]. He has had a real clear identity about the way he wants his team to play.

He’s created a real strong culture at the club, not just from a football perspective but from a mental perspective, and you see that. He has done very well.”

The 57-year-old Norwegian is keen on becoming Celtic manager, and the fact he has led Bodo/Glimt to four league titles in the last five seasons suggests his appointment could be a perfect match for the 55-time Scottish top-flight title winners.
