Puma unveils ‘ITRI’ ball for AFCON 2025

Puma has revealed the ‘ITRI’ as the official match ball for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, drawing design inspiration from the host nation Morocco’s historic zellij art form, reports Inside World.

PUMA has revealed the official match ball design for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament set to be held in Morocco, according to a report from Inside World Football.

The ball, christened the ‘ITRI,’ draws its design inspiration from Morocco’s historic zellij art form, which is renowned for its intricate geometric mosaics. PUMA stated that this pattern symbolizes the “unity and passion” of African football across the continent.

Beyond the artistic design, the ITRI is constructed using PUMA’s advanced Orbita 6 technology, which is the same precision-engineered system utilized across the company’s elite match balls in Europe’s top leagues.

This technology is specifically designed for perfect swerve control, flight stability, and balance.

Mohamed Ghonemi, Creative Development Manager at CAF, commented on the collaboration, stating: “Created for the rhythm of African football, the AFCON 2025 ball brings together art, motion, and a design shaped by African spirit and Moroccan craftsmanship.

It’s been a privilege to collaborate with PUMA on something that unites every nation at the tournament through a shared sense of connection.”

The report notes that the ball serves as a fitting stage-setter for a tournament Morocco will enter as firm favourites, being ranked 12th in the world and Africa’s top side.

The tournament begins on December 21, with the final scheduled for January 18.
