Roberto Mancini confirmed as new Al Sadd coach

Roberto Mancini has officially accepted the coaching role with Al Sadd in Qatar, with the former Italy and Saudi Arabia manager set to sign his contract and debut later this month.

Former Italy and Saudi Arabia coach Roberto Mancini has accepted the head coach position at Qatari club Al Sadd, with a lucrative contract set to run until May 2026.

According to a report from Football Italia, former Italy coach Roberto Mancini has been confirmed as the new manager of Qatari side Al Sadd, with the tactician scheduled to arrive in Doha tomorrow to sign his lucrative contract.

While transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano had initially claimed Mancini had rejected the proposal, the report, supported by La Gazzetta dello Sport and Football Italia on Monday, confirms that the deal is now finalized, with Romano also agreeing that the move is imminent.

The contract is set to run until May 2026, offering Mancini a return to the Middle East. The Italian, who will celebrate his 61st birthday later this month, previously managed the Saudi Arabia national team from August 2023 to October 2024.

Mancini takes over a club that is currently sixth in the Qatar Stars League. Al Sadd has been under the leadership of interim manager Sergio Alegre since they fired former coach Felix Sanchez on October 15.

The former Italy manager is scheduled to make his debut on the Al Sadd bench on November 24, when the team travels away to face Al-Wahda in the AFC Champions League.
