Liverpool are reportedly targeting Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise for 2026, but sources suggest the blockbuster move is highly unrealistic given the player’s contentment and Bayern’s reluctance to sell.
According to a report from TeamTalk, Liverpool are mulling a major bid for Bayern Munich’s French winger Michael Olise in the summer of 2026, viewing him as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.
The Merseyside club reportedly spent a staggering £440 million (€505m) this summer to rebuild their squad, but TeamTalk sources say FSG are far from finished.
The report cites Spanish outlet Fichajes, claiming that Olise — 23 years old — has become the “most frequently mentioned name” in Liverpool’s strategic planning.
Asked if a deal was realistic, transfer insider Dean Jones responded: “He’s not a very realistic target, I don’t think there is any way that Bayern sell him. …
He’s thriving in Munich and has been enjoying the challenge, from what I have heard.”
He added: “I cannot even put a price-tag on what Liverpool might have to pay … because he does not have a release clause and Bayern do not want to quote any figure that might suggest he is attainable soon.”
Despite the uncertainty, TeamTalk maintains that Liverpool “have been working on a salary structure and transfer plan for weeks,” and are reportedly prepared to offer a fee large enough to break their own British transfer record in order to land Olise.
