Rashford’s Barcelona spell hints at Manchester United exit

Marcus Rashford is reportedly enjoying his loan at Barcelona, with Manchester United expecting the Spanish club to trigger his £26m transfer clause.

England international Marcus Rashford is reportedly embracing a more reserved profile during his season-long loan at Barcelona, suggesting he is content with Manchester United’s plan for him to potentially secure a permanent move away from Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford is reportedly enjoying a more low-key career at Barcelona as Manchester United’s transfer plan begins to take shape, according to a report from Birmingham Live, citing The Times.

The 28-year-old England international joined the Spanish club on a season-long loan over the summer after manager Ruben Amorim dropped him from the United squad, signalling his apparent intention to step away from the club where he first made his name after joining the academy at just seven years old.

With Spanish giants Barcelona, Rashford is reportedly enjoying not being the main man. The Times reported:

“…Around his new club Rashford is said to be more shy and reserved, while his introduction in August seemed almost deliberately low-key.”

Furthermore, the report added: “…Those close to Rashford insist this was how he wanted it, the attention dialled down and the noise put on mute.

Yamal is the real star at Barcelona, their teenage sensation whose personal life makes headlines and whose form and fitness spin the wheel of national debate.”

While United executives may envy his current performances, the club’s long-term plan appears to be unfolding as intended.

United reportedly hopes that Barcelona will trigger the £26m option-to-buy clause in Rashford’s contract.

The Manchester-born forward has registered an impressive 13 goal contributions in his first 16 games for the La Liga club.

Barcelona currently sit second in the league table, three points behind fierce rivals Real Madrid. The chances of the purchase clause being activated appear increasingly strong.
