France captain Kylian Mbappe is suing Paris St-Germain for 263m euros, including unpaid wages, while PSG is countersuing for 240m euros over a failed transfer, bringing their intense financial dispute to a Paris labour court.
According to a report from BBC Sport, a detailed review of the 2024/25 Premier League season has revealed how teams reacted when they went in front.
The analysis covered all 380 matches, examining which clubs most reliably converted leads into wins and which lost ground.
The report highlights that Newcastle United, under Eddie Howe, were among the most composed sides after taking a lead. Out of 23 games in which they went ahead, they drew twice and lost only once, making them the team that dropped the fewest points from winning positions.
At the other end of the spectrum, Tottenham Hotspur struggled significantly. The report notes they were in front in 22 matches but managed to win just 11 — suffering four draws and seven defeats — suggesting a recurring inability to maintain momentum.
According to the report, Chelsea also fared well: of 26 occasions in which they led, they won 20 games, demonstrating maturity and defensive strength despite a young squad.
Overall, the BBC Sport study sheds light on “game management” trends across the league, showing that while some clubs consistently capitalise on leads, others remain vulnerable once in front.
