The United States has introduced an expedited visa process, known as the “FIFA Pass,” to provide ticket holders for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with prioritised visa appointments, facilitating smoother travel for the five to 10 million international visitors expected to attend.
According to a report from Gulf News, the United States has launched an expedited visa process, dubbed the “FIFA Pass,” for international fans holding tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The initiative offers prioritised visa appointments to help ticket holders travel to the US more smoothly for the event, which President Donald Trump has positioned as a centerpiece of both his second presidency and the 250th anniversary of US independence in 2026.
Speaking from the Oval Office alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, President Trump encouraged prospective visitors to apply as soon as possible, stating:
“For those who intend to join us for the World Cup, I strongly encourage you to apply right away.” Infantino called the FIFA Pass a “very important announcement,” noting:
“If you have a ticket for the World Cup, you can have a prioritised appointment to get your visa… We’ll have between five and 10 million people coming to America from all over the world, and with this FIFA Pass, legitimate fans can attend in the best conditions.”
Despite the fast-track process, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified that a ticket does not guarantee entry into the country.
“It guarantees you an expedited appointment, but you’re still going through the same vetting,” he said.
Rubio advised fans that interviews would be scheduled within six to eight weeks and urged early applications. Key requirements include a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay.
While Canadian and Bermudan passport holders are exempt, citizens of 42 eligible countries can apply via the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA), with others requiring a valid B1/B2 US visitor visa. The Department of State recommends applying immediately.
