Arsenal’s Gabriel faces thigh injury, sidelined for 1-2 months

Arsenal defender Gabriel sustained a thigh injury while with Brazil, facing one to two months out and creating a defensive challenge for the Gunners during a demanding fixture schedule.

According to a report from The Athletic, Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães sustained a muscle injury in his right thigh during his international duty with Brazil.

The club’s Brazil federation confirmed: “Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhães was re-evaluated this Sunday (16) and underwent imaging tests that revealed a muscle injury in his right thigh.” Therefore, “the player will not be travelling with the team to the match against Tunisia in Lille.”

The report adds that the 27-year-old centre-back went off the pitch during the friendly against Senegal and is now under further assessment.

Gabriel had played every Premier League minute for Arsenal this season, contributing significantly to the club’s strong defensive record, having conceded just five goals from 11 league games.

His absence now places his availability for the upcoming North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur in doubt. Arsenal’s balance at the back is now being scrutinised as the club weigh his recovery timeline.

As the Gunners look ahead to a busy run of fixtures, the defensive linchpin’s setback represents a significant challenge for manager Mikel Arteta and the squad.
