Darren Bent urges Liverpool to sign Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, highlighting his ‘unstoppable’ qualities and potential as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool has been strongly urged to secure the signing of Bournemouth ace Antoine Semenyo during the upcoming January transfer window, as the Ghanaian international is reportedly viewed as the long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, according to a report from The Mirror.
Semenyo, who is considered to be “one of the most effective forwards in the Premier League,” has a release clause understood to be worth £65 million, which can be activated during the first “two weeks of the January window.”
Liverpool is among several clubs, including Manchester United and Tottenham, who are weighing up moves for the player.
Semenyo has had an explosive start to the campaign, tallying “six goals and three assists in his first 11 appearances this term.” Notably, two of those goals came against Liverpool on the opening night of the season.
Speaking on TalkSport, former striker Darren Bent pushed the case for the transfer: “He has exploded out of the traps this season and he just looks really comfortable in himself.
Every game you see him do something and you go, ‘Oh my goodness’… he’s one of those rare players and I call players like this unstoppable. Gareth Bale was like that.”
Bent further praised the forward’s unique attributes, adding: “When I talk about unstoppable I’m talking about their attributes. When Bale started to move, you just couldn’t stop him and Semenyo is the same.
Once he gets going, he’s going past people and he’s gliding. What’s good about him is that he can go both ways. I think he’s got the full package.”
Bent also speculated on the player’s ambition, stating: “I think he [Semenyo] would go to Liverpool… His ambition might be: ‘Get me to Manchester City, I’m better than Doku,’ that might be his mindset.”
