Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Rennes talents Jeremy Jacquet and Mohamed Kader Meite, as the club’s scout Steve Head confirmed interest in the promising Ligue 1 duo for future transfer windows.
Manchester United are allegedly contemplating whether to make bids for two Ligue 1 talents at some point during 2026, with the club already scouting the young players.
The Red Devils are reportedly focused on bringing in new talent as they enjoy a strong run of form in the Premier League under manager Ruben Amorim.
According to a report from Sports Mole, citing journalist Francois Rauzy of the ICI Armorique podcast, the club’s leading French scout, Steve Head, was observing a recent Rennes match. Rauzy recalled a conversation, which revealed the scout’s targets.
Rauzy stated that he managed to get information from the scout, noting: “Well, there’s not much of a surprise, but it was a scout from Manchester United who was there for Jacquet and Kader Meite.”
When Rauzy guessed the players, the scout replied: “bingo’ – so there you go.”
The two players in question are Jeremy Jacquet and Mohamed Kader Meite, both of Rennes. Jacquet is a 20-year-old centre-back who has made 30 outings in Ligue 1 and has earned five caps for the France Under-21s.
Meite, an 18-year-old centre-forward, has contributed two goals and two assists from his 11 appearances in France’s top flight this season.
Despite his age, Meite has already accumulated 930 minutes of football across 24 outings for Rennes.
This scouting activity aligns with the “freshly-imposed transfer strategy” at United since the takeover involving Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
