Erling Haaland eyes Premier League 100-goal mark against Newcastle

Erling Haaland is poised to join the Premier League’s 100-goal club this weekend against Newcastle, with 99 goals already in just over three seasons, aiming to follow in the footsteps of legends like Sadio Mane and challenge Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally.

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland is just one goal away from becoming the 36th member of the Premier League’s 100-goal club, a milestone he could achieve this weekend against Newcastle.

According to a report from The Mirror, Erling Haaland is currently at 99 Premier League goals after just over three seasons in England’s top flight and could become the 36th member of the 100-club in Saturday’s match against Newcastle.

The Manchester City marksman has already scored 14 goals this season, with his most recent victim being Liverpool.

If the Norwegian finds the net this weekend, he will draw level with Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier and will have major names in his immediate sights, including Cristiano Ronaldo (103 goals), Didier Drogba (104), and Paul Scholes (107).

Haaland’s current tally comes after seasons where he has scored 36, 27, and 22 goals, respectively, with this year potentially exceeding those totals as he averages “more than a goal per game.”

When asked about the all-time record, currently held by Alan Shearer (260), Haaland maintained a focused approach.

“I don’t really know any records, but this one I know,” he said. “I can’t think about records I can break – I try to help the team win football games. I know it’s boring, I know you want me to say the complete opposite, but it’s not how it is.”

Haaland also distanced himself from comparisons to all-time greats: “No, not at all, far off. No one can get close to them, so no,” he said bluntly when asked if he could reach the heights of Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.
