Hugo Lloris’s younger brother, Gautier, has drawn interest from clubs in the English Championship amid his solid performances for Le Havre in Ligue 1.
According to a report from TalkSport, Gautier Lloris, the 30-year-old centre-back and younger brother of former France and Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, is being tipped for a move to the English Championship.
Gautier currently plays for Le Havre in Ligue 1 after previously featuring for Nice and AJ Auxerre.
European football expert Andy Brassell told the outlet that despite his age, Gautier’s imposing presence, aerial ability, and recent form under Le Havre’s manager Didier Digard make him a plausible candidate for a switch to the EFL.
Brassell added that Digard’s own English connection — having played for Middlesbrough — strengthens the possibility of a move.
Gautier has been noted for his physical strength and his threat on set-pieces, which have helped Le Havre maintain a very respectable defensive record.
However, his controversial red card against Marseille — for a deliberate handball that was reviewed by VAR — briefly put a blemish on his campaign.
Although a move to the Premier League is seen as unlikely due to his age, Brassell believes that a Championship side could be a realistic destination.
“Any club in the Premier League has got money nowadays … they’re not going to go and buy a 30-year-old out of the Championship,” he said.
