Following a disastrous run of form, Liverpool would be required to pay more than £10 million to sack manager Arne Slot, according to a report from Sportbible.
The Premier League champions have slipped down to 11th in the table after a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, which marked the club’s eighth loss in their last 11 games across all competitions.
Slot, who guided the team to a record 20th league title earlier this year, signed a three-year deal until 2027 when he arrived from Feyenoord in 2024.
The Dutchman is understood to earn £6.6 million per year, and Liverpool would have to pay up the remainder of this contract if they decided to relieve him of his duties imminently.
Despite the severe pressure, Slot took full responsibility for the team’s performance post-match. The manager stated:
“If things go well or things go bad it’s always my responsibility. We weren’t able to create enough. I tried to adjust a few things that didn’t really work out. We weren’t able to score a goal.”
Slot acknowledged the dire situation, adding: “We are in a very bad spell. It’s that simple.” When asked about the way forward, he emphasized his role, saying: “We have quality players. It’s my job to get the best out of them. I am not at the moment.
That’s why I say it’s my responsibility.” Former boss Jürgen Klopp has already been made the bookmakers’ favorite to replace Slot if the board opts for a change.
