Player ratings: Jude Bellingham 9, the only positive on a disappointing night in Elche

Real Madrid failed to return to winning ways after being held in a 2-2 draw against their stubborn host in Elche on Sunday evening.

Player ratings

Thibaut Courtois – 6/10: He made several solid saves in the first half, but was beaten twice after the break and may feel he could have done better on one of the goals.

Raúl Asencio – 6/10: Tasked with covering as an improvised defender, he was a little erratic and failed to pick up a key man for Elche’s first goal.

Dean Huijsen – 7/10: Strong defensively and made a real impact going forward, scoring from a corner after a clever flick from Bellingham.

Álvaro Carreras – 6/10: In a makeshift back three, he showed uncertainty, struggling at times to decide whether to cover the wing or center.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6/10: Mixed showing — he provided good service and moved the ball well, but he was also caught sleeping at times.

Dani Ceballos – 5/10: Quiet and easily bypassed by Elche’s direct play; his tackling was a bit rash on a few occasions.

Arda Güler – 6/10: Battled physically, created a couple of chances, but his deeper role meant he wasn’t always effective without more defensive cover.

Fran García – 6/10: Industrious on the left flank and made plenty of forward runs, but lacked the end product.

Jude Bellingham – 9/10: Outstanding — he scored the equaliser, set up Huijsen’s goal, and worked hard in defence.

Rodrygo – 6/10: Returned to the side but didn’t do enough to influence the game significantly — some nice touches but limited impact.

Kylian Mbappé – 7/10: Threatened consistently, saw a shot saved in the first half, and played a smart pass for Bellingham’s equaliser.

Substitutes & Manager

Federico Valverde – 6/10: Brought energy but couldn’t change the game decisively.

Vinícius Júnior – 6/10: Showed flashes in his 30 minutes — lively but without a moment of magic.

Eduardo Camavinga – 6/10: Strong in tackles, helped push forward but didn’t make a defining contribution.

Gonzalo García & Brahim Díaz: Limited time; little chance to influence.

Xabi Alonso (manager) – 5/10: His tactical tweak (3-4-2-1) didn’t quite work; Real lacked control for long spells
