Jurgen Klopp’s message to Liverpool fans amid Arne Slot’s misery

Jurgen Klopp stands firmly behind successor Arne Slot, urging fans to embrace the new manager despite Liverpool’s challenging start to the season and recent humbling defeats.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is enduring increasing scrutiny following a disastrous run of results, including a humbling 4-1 defeat by PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday.

This loss contributes to the Reds’ ninth defeat in 12 games, alongside league humiliations such as a 3-0 thrashing by Manchester City and a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The pressure on Slot has increased despite the club spending almost £450 million in the summer, as the reigning Premier League champions appear a shadow of their former selves.

However, the Dutchman appears to have the crucial support of his predecessor, Jürgen Klopp, according to a report from The Mirror. Klopp offered encouragement to Slot on several occasions since departing the club in the summer of 2024.

Klopp has praised Slot’s footballing philosophy, stating: “I like the way his team plays football… So good coach, good guy, looking forward for the club if he’s the solution. It’s not up to me to judge, but it all sounds really good to me.”

He also confirmed he was “not involved in the process” of hiring his successor.

After Slot’s first game, Klopp commented that “The work he did was obvious, the ideas obvious. And that’s the best you can say about the coach.” The German boss also shared a dislike for the early 12:30 pm kick-off time, which he previously described as a “crime.”

Klopp famously rallied the Anfield crowd during his leaving ceremony, instructing fans: “You welcome the new manager like you welcomed me… You go all-in from the first day. And you keep believing and you push the team. Change is good.”

He concluded his support on The Diary of a CEO podcast, insisting: “you don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”
