Vinicius Jr. closer to Real Madrid wage agreement

Vinicius Jr. closer to Real Madrid wage agreement

Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr. appear to be nearing a breakthrough in contract negotiations, with reports suggesting the Brazilian winger is now willing to lower his wage demands to secure a new deal at the club.

Star forward Vinicius Jr. is reportedly prepared to adjust his contract expectations, taking the “first step towards agreeing on a new deal” with Real Madrid, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo (MD).

The Brazilian, who was presented with a new contract offer in January but postponed signing, had previously sought an annual salary closer to the reported $36 million (€31 million) earned by Kylian Mbappé.

Mbappé’s high earnings were attributed to the club not paying a transfer fee for him, allowing him to become the highest earner.

After several meetings where terms could not be agreed upon, the 25-year-old’s stance has softened. The club was previously said to be willing to improve his current annual deal of $17.5 million (€15 million) to $21 million (€18 million).

The new proposed terms would reportedly put Vinicius Jr.’s earnings on par with Jude Bellingham, who signed in 2023.

A new contract for the FIFA World Player of the Year would serve as a “massive boost for Real Madrid and Alonso,” easing media speculation about his future, especially given his contract expires in June 2027.

Despite Premier League and Saudi Pro League interest, his willingness to accept improved, though lower, wages suggests he remains committed to Madrid.
