Barcelona’s goalkeeping coach, Jose Ramon de la Fuente, was dismissed during the team’s narrow 2-1 victory over Deportivo Alavés following strong protests against a referee’s decision.
According to a report from Get Spanish Football News, a member of the coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona was dismissed with a red card during the club’s latest outing against Deportivo Alavés.
This incident involved the Barcelona goalkeeper coach, Jose Ramon de la Fuente, who “took his protests with the team of officials a step too far.”
The incident occurred late in the 90th minute at the Spotify Camp Nou, with Barcelona “clinging to a slender advantage, leading by two goals to one” at the time.
De la Fuente was left “fuming with a decision made by referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz” while Barcelona were pressing to find a third goal to secure the result.
The frustration led to the dismissal of the coach from the bench, which the report notes is “far from his first red card during his time on the books in Catalunya’s capital.”
The match narrative saw Barcelona rally after falling behind inside the game’s opening 60 seconds. Lamine Yamal scored the equalizer a short time later, before Dani Olmo netted what, “as things stand, represents the winning goal.”
The dismissal underscored a moment of high tension as the team worked to finalize the victory.
