Eddie Howe’s gamble pays off as Newcastle thrash Everton to end Hill Dickinson run

Newcastle secured their first away win of the season, dominating Everton 4-1 with early goals from Malick Thiaw, Lewis Miley, and Nick Woltemade, rewarding Eddie Howe’s bold tactical decisions.

According to a report from The Guardian, Newcastle United secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, finally ending their winless run on the road in the Premier League. The “ruthless display” marked their first Premier League away win since April 7.

The foundation for the victory was laid in the opening minute when defender Malick Thiaw headed in a corner from Lewis Miley after just 55 seconds.

The Germany international’s strike was confirmed as the fastest goal scored in the Premier League this season, beating Phil Foden’s 59-second effort earlier in the day.

Newcastle quickly built on their lead, with Lewis Miley netting the second goal in the 25th minute following an error from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Nick Woltemade then secured a commanding 3-0 lead just before halftime, lifting a “cool, measured finish” over Pickford.

Thiaw netted his second of the game—and Newcastle’s fourth—in the 58th minute from a Lewis Hall cross. Everton managed a late consolation goal in the 70th minute through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

After the match, Thiaw expressed his gratitude for the win, stating: “I’m just grateful, it’s a great moment for me. Since I’ve been here, the fans have treated me like this is my new house.”

His teammate, Nick Woltemade, also highlighted the positive atmosphere, noting: “It’s been a really easy transition. Off the pitch, it’s good for us to have each other (looks at Thiaw) – two German guys, it’s important for us.”
