Real Madrid TV has reignited its attacks on La Liga referees after a 1-1 draw with Girona cost them the top spot, alleging widespread corruption and unjust decisions that benefit rival Barcelona.
According to a report from Real Madrid TV, the 1–1 draw between Real Madrid and Girona has prompted renewed accusations of corruption within LaLiga.
The draw — secured via a second-half penalty from Kylian Mbappé — allowed Barcelona to remain at the summit of the table by a single point.
Real Madrid TV’s statement singled out referee Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea, claiming he made “egregious and unjustifiable errors” that harmed the club.
“De Burgos has made egregious and unjustifiable errors against Real Madrid. He is the individual who has harmed them the most,” the channel declared.
The broadcast went further, alleging systemic bias against Real Madrid, referencing past controversies — including the so-called “Negreira” case — and claiming that in key moments the VAR team failed to intervene.
“LaLiga is being corrupted. Real Madrid has four points deducted because of the Negreira brothers. De Burgos is one of the referees with the most egregious record against Real Madrid,” the report stated.
The channel also pointed to earlier incidents: “There’s an irregularity because the VAR doesn’t call the referee. It happened in Vallecas and it happened in Girona.
And it already happened last year when Real Madrid was six points ahead of Barcelona. There was the Espanyol incident, the Pamplona incident… and it’s happened again this year.”
On the other side, Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, has previously criticized Real Madrid TV’s repeated attacks on match officials, arguing that they attempt to influence referees and constitute an unfair tactic.
With tensions high, attention now turns to the upcoming mid-week LaLiga fixtures: Barcelona will host Atlético Madrid, while Real Madrid face Athletic Club.
