Pep Guardiola said he does not know when Rodri will be ready to return to action for Manchester City.
According to a report from Yahoo Sports, Manchester City remain uncertain over when Rodri will be fit to play again.
At a press conference on Monday, Guardiola was asked whether Rodri could feature in the upcoming weekend match, but he responded: “No, not yet.”
On whether the midfielder could be available by Saturday, Guardiola added: “I don’t know.”
The 29-year-old Spain international has struggled to regain full fitness after returning from a serious knee injury.
He has made only a brief one-minute appearance in the last 10 games and is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Guardiola’s cautious stance reflects concern over aggravating underlying issues — he previously warned that Rodri is not yet ready to sustain the demands of top-level, frequent match play.
Manchester City will therefore likely press on without him in the near future, as the coaching staff waits for medical clearance before considering his participation again.
