Juventus Striker Dusan Vlahovic Set for Long Lay-Off

Dusan Vlahovic is set for a long spell on the sidelines, potentially until February, after suffering a “high-grade injury” to a muscle in his left groin during the club’s recent 2-1 win over Cagliari.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is facing a significant lay-off and is expected to be out of action until “well into the new year,” dealing a major blow to the Italian club’s season.

According to a report from NDTV Sports, citing Agence France-Presse, the Serbia international sustained the injury during Juventus’ 2-1 victory over Cagliari on Saturday, forcing him off the field in the first half of the match in Turin.

Tests conducted on Monday confirmed the severity of the damage, revealing “a high-grade injury” to a muscle in his left groin.

Juventus stated that “Further medical consultations will be necessary to determine the most appropriate treatment.”

The report adds that Italian media suggests Vlahovic “will not be back before February of next year.”

The 25-year-old had recently re-established his spot as the starting centre-forward, having scored six times for Juve this season (three times in Serie A and three times in the Champions League).

The injury comes after the club attempted to offload him during the summer, as his contract is set to expire at the end of this season.

Juventus, now managed by former Italy coach Luciano Spalletti, currently sits seventh in Serie A, five points behind the leading duo of AC Milan and Napoli.
