Lucia Kendall scored her first international goal on her homecoming in England’s 2-0 friendly win over Ghana. Manager Sarina Wiegman was delighted, saying the youngster celebrated “as if it was a Champions League final!”
Despite England’s dominance with 24 shots, they lacked clinical finishing. Alessia Russo sealed the victory with a late penalty after Wiegman used the match to give valuable minutes to several squad players at St Mary’s.
