Several top European football leagues, including the Women’s Super League, Ligue 1, La Liga, and Bundesliga, are implementing winter breaks this month. In contrast, England’s Premier League and Italy’s Serie A will continue their schedules without pause.
The Premier League’s fragmented ‘winter breaks’ were often undermined by replays, never achieving a full shutdown. After only three seasons, this ‘half-baked’ pause is now defunct, killed off by an expanded European football calendar.
