Oliseh: Osimhen to Real Madrid, Vinicius Jr replacement?

Sunday Oliseh has said that Victor Osimhen could be heading to Real Madrid next summer as replacement for Vinicius Junior.

Former Nigeria international and Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has revealed that Victor Osimhen is being closely monitored by Real Madrid for a potential transfer next summer.

According to a report from Daily Post Nigeria, Oliseh suggested that the LaLiga giants could bring in Osimhen to take over the centre-forward role, which would be vacated by the likely departure of winger Vinicius Jnr.

Osimhen, who completed a permanent move from Napoli to Turkish champions Galatasaray last summer, has scored six times in the Champions League this season despite battling injuries.

The speculation comes as Vinicius Jr. is yet to agree on a new contract with Real Madrid, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2027.

Oliseh noted that if Vinicius departs, Kylian Mbappe could easily return to his natural position on the left of the attack, creating the space for Osimhen.

Oliseh told the Insight Podcast that he heard the news from a credible source, stating:

“And there’s a lot of talk under the ground about the possibility of Osimhen being a candidate. I am not going to tell you how I got this information, but there’s a lot of talk.”

He added, “Let’s see how this plays out. But when I heard it from a top personality, I was happy for the young man.”

Historically, no Nigerian-born player has ever played for Real Madrid’s first team, though Oladimeji Lawal and Mutiu Adepoju made appearances for the Spanish giant’s B team.
